About
Why This Exists
We were paying for multiple AI tool subscriptions, jumping between browser tabs, and none of them had the editing precision we needed for production work. So we built our own.
Evolution
Laal Gen Studio
Started as a personal project. A single wrapper around Replicate and FAL.ai APIs with a clean GUI. Most-used models in one place. Unified interface. Easy enough for anyone to use — powerful enough for actual work. Key insight: background in VFX meant the canvas tools were built with real production knowledge from day one.
Team Internal Tool
The tool evolved into a shared workspace for our creative team. Global provider keys configured once — everyone on the team could generate, edit, and manage work. Sessions as projects. Chat history for context. PDF exports for storyboards. It worked. We used it daily. It became how we did generative work.
CiviEdit
Friends asked to use it. So we added BYOK — bring your own API keys. Fund your own Replicate or FAL.ai account, enter your keys, and use CiviEdit. No subscription to us. Your credits, your pace. Currently onboarding select users manually while we gauge interest.
Exploring
Open-sourcing so other studios can self-host. Possible subscription tier if demand justifies it. Community-driven feature development. No promises — but these are the directions we're thinking about.
Who It's For
Creative Teams
Multiple people doing generative AI work. Shared workspace, sessions, and export tools.
VFX & Post-Production
Artists who need precision. Mask painting, color grading, comparison tools — not toy interfaces.
Indie Studios
Small teams who don't want 5 separate AI subscriptions. BYOK means $20 goes a long way.
Solo Creators
Individuals who want professional tools without the professional price tag.
Philosophy
Pay-as-you-go
No monthly subscription to us. Use your own provider credits. $20 today or $20 over three months — your pace.
Own Your Keys
Your API keys, your accounts, your data. We don't resell access. We build the interface.
Built by Users
Every feature exists because we needed it. No feature roadmap driven by investor pressure.
Open Beats Closed
Working toward open-sourcing CiviEdit. Studios should be able to self-host and customize.
